Only a mile and a half hike back to this beautiful lighthouse is well worth the walk. The beach is also beautiful with a rocky shoreline. Tours and information on shipwrecks in the area are available in building next to the lighthouse.
Hiking by? Well stop on in for a tour of the grounds by one of the very informative staff members. To hear the life of a lighthouse keeper is something quite interesting. Pay some $$$ (but not much) to get full access to the top of the light tower. A spectacular view well worth the pennies will greet you.
Neat old lighthouse way out on Lake Superior. You gotta hike here which keeps *some* tourists away. It's closed up in the offseason so if you want a tour, you gotta go in the summertime.
What a treasure from history this lighthouse is. The volunteers and tour guides truly love what they do and love sharing it with their guests. They are able to paint a vivid picture of what life being a light keeper was like that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. Make sure to take the staircase down to the beach to see the remnants of the old shipwrecks.
This is a beautiful lighthouse with a 1.5 mile walk back to it on a 2 track. The walk is beautiful with scenes of the lake. The house is closed up in the off season so we will be going back but it was cold and blustery but soo worth it!!!
