My wife's family holds a family reunion here every year, and this year be the last time here for many of us. Over the past few years North Shore Lodge has really gone downhill. It is obvious that the owners, managers, and staff have either given up or don't care. The restaurant is no longer open, and with no continental breakfast offered, guests have no options. The cabins and rooms both leave you feeling dirty, and have less than the bare minimum. The pool has been closed for years, and the solution for the pool was to cover the windows with brown parcel paper. Out of sight out of mind, right? The hallway bathrooms are locked, with large spots of missing paint on them, and the hallway walls have numerous holes. There is a vending machine, but it has been unplugged, and pulled away from the wall.

We opted to stay in the motel this time because the cabins were so disgusting and overpriced last time. In our room, #104, the majority of the problems, other than the dirty feel and having a very cold night because there wasn't a blanket on our bed, are in the bathroom. The shower has a large gouge in the wall, and a crack in the floor. The crack is probably due to a lack of support under the shower leaving a concave floor that collects water and sand. Furthermore, the part you pull to switch from bath to shower is stuck such that only half of the water comes out of the shower head. The maintenance guy couldn't fix it with pliers. And just to add insult to injury, they couldn't be bothered to replace the missing spindle for the toilet paper holder.

All this wonderful luxury for merely a little over $100 per night. This place is a disgrace to the hospitality industry, and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

For a dated facility, this little place is a perfect getaway. On-premises beachfront and quiet area makes it an amazing vacation spot. Pet friendly without fee was a huge bonus. Free ice for coolers as well!

The rooms were clean (if you didn't mind a couple of cobwebs in the corners, which we didn't) but sparse. Very dated but I thought it added a bit of charm. Pretty much I'm not very picky as long as there's a bed and it's clean. The only thing I really didn't like was how ever-loving cold the shower was. I think it might have been warmer jumping into the lake. That being said, the lake was literally over the little hill which was super nice, and you're within walking distance of the town which has several nice establishments.

Clean spacious rooms! Free ice. Free garden hose use to hose off your car if you were off the grid without a map and ended up deep in the woods on narrow dirt roads. Great motel. Nice people.

No hot water!! I was told they Just got a new water heater and didn't understand why it wasn't working but now that I read other reviews I now see they lie. No air in room had to ask for a fan. If they just tried a little it could be beautiful. Too much money for what it is.
